Das nächtliche Leben (the nocturnal life) // video 16/9 01:52 minutes, japan-paper objects, text // dimensions variable // 2022
The installation contains a video projection and japan-paper objects, that are hanging from the ceiling. They create a softly moving forest through wich the visitor has to walk to see the video. The work describes the moment of falling asleep when the elements of the daily life are alienated into dreams.

The nocturnal life, the one in the dreams and the one on the way there, takes place in fragments. Elements of daily life are isolated, palpated, kneaded, layered. Stories grow out of noises like blades of grass, unkempt today.
The weighting changes. I can let my body become almost weightless, it becomes a cloud, a forest, I can walk through it and create an echo in it. Or it can be a surface of water that ripples as I wade through it. It shimmers and shimmers back to me.
I try gestures in strange places. It doesn’t matter if surfaces are confused, it’s no longer serious. Without daylight, judgments don’t fall like guillotines, they fall like warm raindrops.
